My academic biography, in brief: I am a specialist in ancient Greek philosophy working at the University of Sydney. I began my career as the Seymour Reader at Ormond College and the University of Melbourne (2019–2022). I completed my Ph.D. at Princeton in 2019, writing a dissertation on techne in the Platonic dialogues. Before that, I earned an M.A. in Classical Philology at the University of Arizona and a B.A. in Classics (with minors in Philosophy and Biology) at Stanford.
My current research falls into two broad categories: (1) projects related to my work on Plato and techne and (2) projects related to my work on women in Greek philosophy. There is more information on these on the pages listed above under “Research.” In coming years, I am hoping to work on the topic of language in Greek philosophy. For part of 2026, I will be in Greece on an Early Career Fellowship at the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens.
My research and teaching interests include ancient philosophy, ancient history, and ethics. Outside of work, I enjoy playing and watching tennis, travel with friends, and reading nonfiction. I can be found most Saturdays in autumn at Marrickville Lawn Tennis and most Saturdays in spring at Henson Park watching the Sydney Swans AFLW.
